Safari and More

Nambiti sits at the centre of one of South Africa’s richest travel corridors. Within an hour of the reserve entrance, guests have access to a World Heritage mountain range, one of the most significant military history landscapes in southern Africa, and a well-established arts and crafts trail through the KwaZulu-Natal Midlands. Drakensberg Mountain Range

40 minutes from Nambiti. A UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of South Africa’s most dramatic landscapes. Hiking, San rock art, trout fishing, and some of the finest mountain scenery on the continent. A natural extension of any Nambiti visit, particularly for guests staying multiple nights.

KwaZulu-Natal Battlefields

30 minutes from Nambiti. The battlefields of Isandlwana, Rorke’s Drift, and Blood River are among the most significant Anglo-Zulu War sites in the world. Specialist guided tours available through local operators and several Nambiti lodges. See the Battlefields page for full details.

Midlands Meander

South Africa’s oldest arts and crafts trail winds through the KwaZulu-Natal Midlands between Pietermaritzburg and Mooi River, within easy reach of Nambiti. Galleries, farm stalls, cheese makers and breweries make for a flexible half-day or full-day excursion.

Ladysmith

25 kilometres from Nambiti. Known for its Siege Museum, the Nkosi Sikelel’ iAfrika monument, and its connection to both Boer War history and South African musical heritage. A worthwhile cultural visit and practical stop for supplies.

Spioenkop Dam Nature Reserve

Approximately 45 minutes from the reserve. Water-based activities, excellent birding, and pleasant walking trails.
