NAMBITI PLAINS LODGE

The Lodge Story

Nambiti Plains Lodge occupies one of the reserve’s most spectacular settings, overlooking a private waterhole and the vast landscapes beyond. Every aspect of the lodge has been carefully considered to bring the landscape inside, creating an effortless connection between the built environment and the natural world without ever detracting from it. As an unfenced lodge, wildlife moves freely through the property, allowing for truly immersive encounters and a safari experience where nature is never more than a few steps away.

Modern and minimalist in design, the lodge was built with eco-conscious principles and meticulous attention to every material and detail. Set on the site of a farmhouse and dairy that dates back more than 100 years, Nambiti Plains honours the history of the land while embracing a contemporary vision of safari living. Expansive glass, natural textures, and open living spaces invite the landscape to take centre stage, while each one of the seven suites enjoy its own private views across the reserve. With this level of exclusivity, Nambiti Plains offers an experience that is both authentic and deeply personal.

From the moment you arrive, the focus is not on the building itself, but on what lies beyond its floor-to-ceiling glass doors – the changing light, the movement of wildlife, and the feeling of being immersed in one of South Africa’s most remarkable wilderness areas. Here, wildlife is not simply something you search for on safari – it is part of everyday life. From elephants drinking from the swimming pool while you enjoy breakfast to the distant roar of lions after sunset, every moment brings you closer to nature.

For guests seeking a genuine five-star safari, Nambiti Plains offers an experience where exceptional hospitality, refined comfort, thoughtful design, and unpretentious luxury come together in perfect harmony with the wild. Here, luxury isn’t separate from nature – it’s found in being completely connected to it.

The Experience

Morning and afternoon safari drives venture through the diverse landscapes of Nambiti Private Game Reserve in search of the Big Five and the reserve’s abundant bird and wildlife. Our experienced guides share not only incredible wildlife sightings, but also the fascinating stories behind the reserve’s ecology, conservation efforts and the smaller wonders often overlooked.

Back at the lodge, the safari continues at the waterhole in front of Nambiti Plains. From the expansive viewing decks, swimming pool area or elegant lounge, guests can enjoy regular wildlife activity as animals arrive to drink throughout the day. Being unfenced allows wildlife to move naturally through the lodge surroundings. Zebra often graze nearby, giraffe wander past the suites, buffalo frequently visit the waterhole and elephants have become regular visitors – sometimes even stopping for a drink from the lodge swimming pool.

For those seeking an even deeper connection with nature, guided walking safaris offer the opportunity to experience the bush from a completely different perspective.

Our intimate size allows us to provide something increasingly rare in luxury travel: genuine personal hospitality. From the moment you arrive, our team gets to know you by name, your preferences and the experiences that matter most to you.

It is this attention to detail, together with exceptional guiding and warm South African hospitality, that makes guests return year after year.
